Unveiling the Historical Significance: A Glimpse into Ancient Water Conservation

Agrasen ki Baoli, also known as Ugrasen ki Baoli, served as a water reservoir and step-well. These underground structures ingeniously stored water, ensuring a stable supply during seasonal variations.

In ancient India, ruling dynasties and communities constructed step-wells to combat water scarcity caused by natural or human factors. Across the country, various states still have their own step-wells, each serving different purposes, from providing drinking water to meeting domestic needs.

Architectural Brilliance: A Masterpiece of Ancient Craftsmanship

Its architectural design showcases the remarkable craftsmanship of ancient India. It was constructed during the reign of Maharaja Ugrasen of Agroha, exhibiting architectural similarities to step-wells from the late Lodhi or Tughlaq period. With its flight of steps leading down to the stepwell located in the north, impressive concrete walls, and arched corridors, Agrasen ki Baoli stands as one of Delhi’s finest step-wells.
